About Our Club
Chartered in April of 1991, the Lakeside Highway Lions Club is located in Lakeside, California.
We are a "Family Oriented" club and encourage
members to bring their entire families to General Meetings. In fact
over 80% of our membership is comprised of husbands, wives and other family
members.! Our reputation as a "Fun" club is well deserved..
Our unofficial motto is: "If we're not having fun, then why do it?"
Formerly, we were the El Cajon Highway Lions, one of three Lions
clubs in that city. Our merger with the Lakeside Lions has enabled us
to provide stronger more dynamic Lions Club support to the East County
community of Lakeside. The country atmosphere and "Cowboy" ambience of
this little part of San Diego County is a perfect mating for the
Highway Lions and our wild west reenactment group, "The Regulators."
Our Annual Calendar
Included in our annual calendar are regularly scheduled club
meetings, and events of interest to the membership. Fund raisers and
occasions where we support community events are also listed.
Our District
The Highway Lions Club is part of District 4-L6, made up of all the clubs
in San Diego and Imperial Counties and one of four clubs in the El
Capitan Zone; Lakeside Highway Lions; Rancho Santee Lions; Alpine Stagecoach
Lions and Harbison Canyon Lions. There are currently 59 clubs and
approximately 1800 Lions in the District.
Lions Clubs International
Founded in 1917 in Chicago, Lions Clubs International has grown into the
world's largest Service Organization. As of July 2002 there were
approximately 1.4 million Lions in 192 countries or geographical areas
making up 46,000 individual clubs.
